Doctoral Studies
Are you interested in learning more and deepening your knowledge of a particular field of study? Are you interested in the contributing to the production of new knowledge? If this is the case, then doctoral education at Umeå University is for you!
Doctoral education involves four years of full-time study, which includes a number of courses and a thesis. Besides acquiring in-depth knowledge of a field of study, you will also cultivate your critical and analytical thinking. During your education you get to solve problems independently as you prepare for a professional career within academia, business or the public sector.
To be accepted as a doctoral student you are required:
- to fulfil the entrance qualifications for the subject in question.
- to show that you have other abilities that are necessary to complete the education.
If you are interested in commencing doctoral education you should first contact the department that conducts education and research in your field of interest.
