Abstract:
Magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits are our major resources of numerous ore metals, including Cu, Mo and Au. Most of their metal budget is thought to be derived from degassing magma reservoirs in the upper crust. In addition to tectonic parameters and the size of the intrusion, the ore-fertility of such magma reservoirs largely depend on the genesis and evolution of the magma before its arrival in the upper crust as well as the efficiency of metal extraction during decompression, cooling and crystallization. The aim of my PhD was trying to improve our understanding of the latter processes. I have focused on ore-metal genesis during magma differentiation in the Earth’s crust, and the solubility and partitioning behavior of volatile constitutes (H2O, CO2 and chlorides) through fluid-melt and fluid-fluid interactions which involve in the chain of forming magmatic-hydrothermal system to study in detail. In addition, I will try to say something about how important of physicists can help to study, for instance, the interrelationship between speciation of aqueous solutes and the macroscopic properties of fluids by molecular dynamics simulation.
